Spotlight: Qi-Anxin – The Sentinel of Cybersecurity in China

The recent Paris Olympics brought a wave of excitement and memorable moments to audiences worldwide, with a dedicated team working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the event’s success. Among these unsung heroes were numerous cybersecurity specialists who played a crucial role in safeguarding the digital realm.

Reflecting on their involvement in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, Zhang Zhuo, vice president of Qi-Anxin Group, highlighted the firm’s pivotal role. As a prominent Chinese cybersecurity company, Qi-Anxin mobilized approximately 3,500 experts to counteract cyber threats during the event.

Following extensive preparation, China delivered a Winter Games experience that dazzled viewers around the globe. Qi-Anxin, a key sponsor, not only provided essential cybersecurity and antivirus solutions but also showcased Olympic mascots Bing Dwen Dwen, the charming panda, and Shuey Rhon Rhon, a symbol of festivity, prominently in their lobby. Between these mascots stood the company’s logo—a crouching yellow tiger inspired by ancient tiger tallies, a symbol of authority and security from the Warring States Period.

Zhang explained that the tiger tally represents a method of ensuring security and signifies a bond of trust, mirroring Qi-Anxin’s commitment to delivering reliable cybersecurity solutions. Since its inception a decade ago, Qi-Anxin has embraced innovation, especially with the rise of AI technologies such as ChatGPT.

Capitalizing on this trend, Qi-Anxin developed China’s first industrial-grade large-model AI security product, the QAX-GPT Security Robot, unveiled at the September 2023 cybersecurity expo in Fuzhou. This cutting-edge technology is akin to having over 60 security experts working continuously, drastically reducing incident response times and processing durations by approximately 98 percent.

In April 2024, Qi-Anxin further advanced its offerings with a new knowledge Q&A service center utilizing the QAX-GPT Security Large Model. This service aims to provide in-depth expertise and decision support for cybersecurity professionals, enhancing overall effectiveness and reducing false alarms.

Qi-Anxin’s strides in innovation align with China’s broader goal of advancing high-tech, high-performance, and high-quality industries. The recent governmental resolution emphasizes the need for modernizing national security systems, strengthening cybersecurity, and advancing strategic technologies like AI.

As the internet continues to bring both unprecedented benefits and significant threats, cybersecurity remains a critical global challenge. China, through initiatives like the Cyberspace Administration and improved governance, is actively enhancing its cybersecurity framework. Qi-Anxin exemplifies this commitment, extending its technological support to the Global South and reinforcing the notion that collective effort is essential in achieving robust cybersecurity.

Reflecting on their success during the Beijing Winter Games, Qi-Anxin achieved a record “zero incidents” in cybersecurity, showcasing their effective approach to ensuring client safety and contributing to global security standards.
