In a rare disruption to its operations, Nucor Corporation—North America’s leading steel producer—has paused production at multiple facilities following a cyber intrusion that targeted its digital infrastructure.
The company identified unusual activity on its IT systems earlier this week and swiftly initiated a full-scale cybersecurity response. Rather than waiting for external confirmation, Nucor took the initiative to isolate and power down potentially compromised systems across various locations to prevent the attack from spreading.
With an emphasis on transparency and risk containment, Nucor has engaged top-tier cybersecurity consultants and is cooperating with federal authorities to trace the origin of the breach and mitigate any lasting effects.
