Genetec has unveiled plans to host its Security Center SaaS on Microsoft’s Azure cloud infrastructure in Australia. This strategic move addresses the rising need for local cloud solutions for physical security technologies in the region.
The Genetec Security Center SaaS platform prioritizes cybersecurity and data privacy. It delivers a versatile software service that integrates a range of sophisticated security functions, such as access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and system automation. Hosting on Azure allows Australian businesses and government bodies to benefit from this adaptable security technology, offering quicker access and ensuring compliance with local data sovereignty regulations.
Leon Langlais, Chief Product Officer for APAC at Genetec, highlighted the significance of this development. “Australia is at the forefront of cloud adoption,” he noted. “By situating a data center locally, we provide our clients with the reassurance that their security systems are managed within their own country. Partnering with Microsoft Azure, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering cutting-edge, dependable technology as our customers transition to the cloud.”
Microsoft has endorsed this initiative. Natasha Clohessy, Director of Partner Development at Microsoft Australia, remarked, “We are excited to support Genetec in hosting Security Center SaaS on Azure. With Microsoft’s robust cybersecurity measures and IRAP certification, Genetec can offer top-tier physical security services to Australian enterprises.”
Australia becomes the fourth nation to host a Genetec data center for Security Center SaaS, following the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands. Langlais pointed out the technological synergy between Genetec and Microsoft, stating, “By utilizing advanced AI and cloud technology, we aim to address core security challenges, enhancing the scalability, efficiency, and intelligence of security operations across various sectors.”
Genetec and Microsoft’s collaboration spans over two decades, encompassing numerous projects such as cloud-based strategies and workforce development. Genetec holds the prestigious Gold Partner status with Microsoft.
