Microsoft 365 Outage Disrupts Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Services

Microsoft 365 Users Face Widespread Service Interruptions Across Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint

Thousands of Microsoft 365 users are facing widespread service disruptions, with key tools like Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, and SharePoint Online hit by unexpected technical issues. The breakdown began surfacing around 7:29 PM IST, with users reporting limited functionality and intermittent outages.

Microsoft has linked the disturbance to performance degradation within a segment of its Azure Front Door (AFD) network infrastructure. As of now, engineers are working to reroute traffic through more stable network paths while accelerating recovery efforts—particularly for Teams, which many organizations rely on for real-time collaboration.

“A portion of the AFD network is underperforming. We’ve started redirecting traffic to mitigate the issue and are actively pushing recovery steps for Microsoft Teams,” Microsoft shared in a technical bulletin.

The service hiccup has been logged under incident ID MO1068615, with the Microsoft 365 Status team releasing regular updates via social media and the Admin Center dashboard. While the heaviest disruptions appear to be centered in North America, reports from other global regions suggest a broader reach.

What’s Being Affected:

  • Teams: Users are struggling to join meetings, send messages, or access the app entirely.
  • OneDrive for Business: File syncing and document access are facing delays or failing outright.
  • SharePoint Online: Collaborative editing and content loading features are noticeably sluggish or unavailable.

The outage is a stark reminder of how interdependent digital workplaces have become on cloud-based ecosystems like Microsoft 365. Businesses heavily reliant on these platforms are currently operating with reduced productivity and limited access to vital data and communication tools.

Microsoft’s recovery plan is centered on isolating faulty network nodes and rerouting user traffic through more reliable segments. While the company has not yet updated its official Service Health dashboard, it has acknowledged the issue and is actively sharing developments through its official communication channels.

Administrators are encouraged to monitor the Admin Center under incident ID MO1068615 for the latest technical updates. At the time of the latest report (8:19 PM IST), recovery efforts were still in progress.

More updates are expected as Microsoft continues working toward full service restoration.
